Confirmation

Confirmation

At St. Augustine we confirm candidates in 6th Grade. If you have an older child who has not yet been confirmed please contact Heather Chapman, Religious Education Coordinator in the Parish Office.
Our Expectations
  • Active participation in the Catholic faith through weekly Mass attendance.
  • Receive the sacrament of Reconciliation (at a minimum, during Advent and Lent).
  • Participate in RE classes in 4th and 5th grade.  These prepare you for the Confirmation year.
  • Regularly attend Confirmation class (missing no more that 3 classes)
Middle School/High School Faith Formation:
Wednesdays, (7:00pm - 8:00pm)

Faith Formation does not end after Confirmation.  In middle school and high school, we will build on the foundational knowledge your children bring with them to middle school formation.  Our goal is to encourage our young people to live out the faith by incorporating and applying their knowledge to their everyday experiences.
Retreats
We have one retreat in the Fall that must be attended.

Candidate Responsibilities:

Saint Project
Candidates will create a simple display about their chosen saint and present it at a "saint museum" for the K-5 Religious education classes. This project gives candidates an opportunity to research their chosen saint and experience faith sharing as they interact with the K-5 children.

Spiritual Experiences
Our goal is to expose children to a variety of spiritual practices to help them find something that helps them connect to God.  Candidates are encouraged to participate in a faith experience that is new to them (examples would be: praying a family rosary, attending daily Mass, visiting the National Memorial for the Unborn etc.).

Bishop Letter
Each candidate will write a letter to the Bishop. Because Confirmation is a gift from God that is freely chosen, each candidate must request the sacrament from the Bishop.
