All middle school students (grades 6-8th) are invited to participate in the St Augustine Parish Confirmation program.
If you have a child in high school who has not yet been confirmed please contact Heather Wilson, Director of Religious Education in the parish office.
Wednesdays, 6:30 - 8 pm (beginning Sept. 6)
During Youth Nights, we will build on the foundational knowledge your children bring with them to middle school formation. Our goal is to encourage our young people to live out the faith by incorporating and applying their knowledge to their everyday experiences.
St. Augustine Retreat: Sunday, August 27 @ McCoy Farm (2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.)
We will kick off our program and do team building activities. This retreat gives us the opportunity to get to know your child and for them to form friendships with others.
Diocesan Retreat (Date: TBD)
The diocese is requiring next year's Confirmation candidates to attend a diocesan retreat. They are scheduling one retreat for all the candidates in each deanery. We will attend the Chattanooga deanery retreat as a parish.
Saint Project (Due: Sunday, Nov. 5 @ 9:15am)
Candidates will create a simple display about their chosen saint and present it at a "saint museum" for the K-5 Religious education classes. This project gives candidates an opportunity to research their chosen saint and experience faith sharing as they interact with the K-5 children.
Our goal is to expose children to a variety of spiritual practices to help them find something that helps them connect to God. Candidates are encouraged to participate in a faith experience that is new to them (examples would be: praying a family rosary, attending daily Mass, visiting the National Memorial for the Unborn etc.).
Bishop Letter (Due: Jan. 31)
Each candidate will write a letter to the Bishop. Because Confirmation is a gift from God that is freely chosen, each candidate must request the sacrament from the Bishop.
