Marriage

Holy Scripture affirms that man and woman were created for one another: “It is not good that the man should be alone.” The woman, “flesh of his flesh”, i.e., his counterpart, his equal, his nearest in all things, is given to him by God as a “helpmate”; she thus represents God from whom comes our help. “Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.” The Lord himself shows that this signifies an unbreakable union of their two lives by recalling what the plan of the Creator had been “in the beginning: ‘So they are no longer two, but one flesh.’” (CCC, #1605)

Marriage is an important step in the lives of couples and requires preparation.

All of us of St. Augustine Parish offer our congratulations on your engagement, and we pray that God will bless and guide you in your preparation for marriage! Your wedding day will be a very special one for you and we want to do all that we are able to insure that it will be filled with joy; that it will be a blessed, holy and prayerful celebration.

Before you plan a date for your wedding please contact the Parish Office to schedule an appointment with the Pastor.
Preparation for your marriage should begin no later than six months in advance and preferably nine months in advance.

If the marriage reception is taking place at St. Augustine, couples must complete and turn in a Facilities Use Form.
