When the Scriptures are read in the Church, God himself speaks to His people, and Christ, present in His own Word, proclaims the Gospel. Therefore, all must listen with reverence to the readings from God's word, for they make up an element of greatest importance in the Liturgy.
General Instruction of the Roman Missal #29 Lectors is a noble ministry where individuals proclaim the Word of God at all Eucharistic Celebrations. A Lector must have a love of Holy Scripture and the liturgy, sufficient public speaking skills to proclaim the Word of God to the congregation, and the willingness to work on communication skills.
St. Augustine holds Lector trainings at various times throughout the year. If you are interested in becoming a lector contact Richard Spangler at [email protected] or call the Parish Office. |
